Nice option when you have your belt sander hooked up to the Sanding Frame (DW4055). Don't like it when using the sander free hand. Vacuum hose in the way a lot of the time.
Works great and gets rid of that dust bad but it does require a smaller shop vacuum. You can get away with one of theose 2 h.p. jobs that uses the blue cloth cover for a filter and it works just fine.Pat
Fits perfectly onto the Dewalt 432 sander...picks up a good share of the dust. Nice product and well designed piece.
This is the first thing I bought on amazon.com. I don't know why DeWalt do not sold this vaccum adapter on the european market but I am happy to have found on amazon.com.No problem to use with the vaccum hose, the adapter has the same exit size as my others DeWalt or Bosch tools.
Fit is perfect and secure. Tolerances are appropriate to the task (neither too tight or too generous). Dust extraction using a shop vacuum is quite good.
For some reason this is not an item DeWalt stock in the UK ,but with great service from the US who cares. Its a shame as the belt sander this fits to produces one heck of a lot of sanding dust which quickly swamps the collection bag provide. This can the clog up the machine and make it catch fire. Yes it did happen to me!
I just bought this to bump myself up to free shipping (basically got it for free). Seems to fit as well on the sander as the bag does so I don't have any complaints.
DW4050 vacuum adapter worked very well in removing dust from the surface being sanded.I have a problem installing the adapter to the sander, trying to install the adapter into the dust port on the sander was very difficult. After hooking to bottom onto the sander you have trouble getting the rubber nose with the two prongs inserted into the sanders dust port, if you tried to insert the nose to the dust port first you could not hook the bottom to the sander.
The adapter came in the time and condition expected. It works well with my belt sander to keep dust down to a minimum in conjunction with my shop vac.
Why they made an adapter that uses half of the bag dust collector is beyond me. Why not just make an adapter that fits the sander. The adapter does not seal well. It is very close to the bottom of the sanding plane so it tend to snag the work at times. And worst of all it is too big to be used with the sanding frame. Just stupid design. DeWalt blew it. Nice sander and poor dust management.
I'm not sure whats going on with the other reviewers. or perhaps the design has been reengineered since then. This adapter worked perfectly right out of the box! Its a two stepper., 1st you need to remove the rubber mounting piece from the original vacuum bag which comes with the belt sander by un-flipping the metal latch, then 2: you slide on the new adapter and re-flip the metal latch to hold the two pieces together. Now using the tabs on the sander dust exhaust port & the matching slots on the original rubber dust mounting piece, you can slide the whole thing back onto the sander. Don't forget to slide down the little plastic locking mechanism on the sander to hold the whole thing in place. I was already to go. I did have the duct tape by my side at the ready, but the standard shopvac hose fits very snugly perfectly on the adapter. I have seen no problems with it pulling off! Thank you Amazon -- usual fast delivery!!!
I was really happy to find this item. I just wish the shipping would be faster.
This adapter works well, once a vacuum is connected. Unfortunately for me, it didn't mate with Shop-Vac accessories. So, I had to make my own...kind of defeats the purpose, eh? Sorry, DeWALT...Not your best effort...but better than nothing!
The Adapter attached to my belt sander's dust port with no problem, but as stated in a prior review, Dewalt's dust port doesn't attach to the body of the sander very well. When I tried to use it, the weight of the vacuum hose just kept pulling the port off the sander. And I don't see an easy fix, its just the design of the clip-in dust port.So the adapter works as promised, but don't bother buying this because what it attaches to can't support the additional weight.
the fein vacuum hose I have fit like a glove, but the rubber clamp that holds the adapter to the belt sander came lose a couple of times during sanding. I would like to see DeWalt design a better clamp to hold the Vacuum adapter on with
Works like it is supposed to and fits perfectly onto the sander and the vacuum cleaner.
Dewalt made a mistake in the design of this adapter in that the port has a diameter of 1 1/2 inches and therefore cannot be attached to a standard 1 1/4 inch vacuum hose. The package clearly states that this adapter does connect to a 1 1/4 inch hose. I contacted Dewalt but they have not responded. I contacted Amazon and they promptly sent me another one which is just as useless as the first. I tried using a 'universal adapter' and that would not fit it either. If Dewalt ever corrects the design, I will attempt to post the news here. Until then, don't buy this unless you can connect to a 1 1/2 inch (outside diameter) port.
